About the Faculty

History

The Faculty of Theology dates back to the 'Schola Tigurina', a higher academy founded in the 16th century for educating and training reformed theologians.

The Faculty of Theology today

Today, the Faculty of Theology offers degree courses in theology and the study of religions, the latter in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts.

The Faculty of Theology currently has twelve chairs for teaching and research, one assistant professorship and two visiting professorships, a range of mid-level faculty positions, and several technical and administrative positions.

Sigi Feigel Visiting Professorship for Jewish Studies

The Sigi Feigel Visiting Professorship for Jewish Studies is dedicated to the study of Judaism, and Jewish Thought past and present . Every year, the Faculty of Theology appoints a visiting professor to this position in the spring semester.

Visiting Professorship for Islamic Theology and Education

The aim of the Visiting Professorship is to discuss cultural and religious issues of Islamic Theology and Education in a European context.
