Churches from the South Pacific (Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Fiji), verfasst von Julia Ratzmann und Gerhard Stahl

1) This church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea is located at the highland region Chimbu of the country.
2) This church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea is located in Lae, in a settlement of the town, of the country Papua New Guinea Lae is the second biggest town of PNG with about 120.000 citizens. In Lae town (settlement Ampo) is also the head quarter of the ELC-PNG.
3) This church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea is located in Boana. It is more in the coastal area of Papua New Guinea. This little church is for about 20 families.
4) This church in the Samoan capital Apia belongs to the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa. Like in Germany, the leading Pastor of this church lives with his family right beside the church in a wooden house. Pastors of the CCCS are not paid for by the church administration, but by the congregation members. Therefore it is very attractive for young pastors to be elected as a pastor in large towns like Apia. The larger the congregation, the higher the pastors salary. But the pastor can't keep the whole salary for himself and his family. He is obliged to hand over at least half of his salary to the poor and underprivileged members of his congregation.
5) Based in Suva, the capital city of Fiji in the South Pacific, the Pacific Theological College is a unique institution: a regional, ecumenical theological college offering academic programmes since 1965, serving the churches of the Pacific Islands. Originally founded to offer degree-level theological education for students from Pacific Island churches, we now offer a complete range of academic programmes in theology and some related disciplines, ranging from pre-degree award programmes (Certificates and Diplomas) to our doctoral programme. Some pre-degree and degree-level programmes are also available in non-residential modes, including distance education. The Pacific Theological College is open for all denominations and offers a denominational-free degree in Theology.
6) At the Pacific Theological College, students from all over the Pacific meet every morning at 8:15 in the chapel for a short morning devotion and announcements from the faculty staff. Each morning, the devotions are prepared by the delegates of one of the churches and countries.
