Powell’s book: Stewardship

So much of what our culture says about financial stewardship is full of rules to follow that don’t seem like “good news” to us, and don’t lead us to joy in our relationship with God and each other. In his book, “Giving to God”, Mark Powell says, “Here is something that many people do not know: what the Bible teaches about stewardship is good news! When we come to understand and practice what the Bible says about stewardship, we will have happier, better lives.” (Giving to God, p. xviii)

Goettinger Predigten is offering its English readers a four sermon series on stewardship by Rev. Dr. Luke Bouman that uses Powell’s book as a jumping off point, attempting to frame our thoughts around the good news of Jesus Christ, and our response in life and faith. The sermons will be as follows:

1. Stewardship as an Act of Worship (based on Romans 12)
2. Stewardship as an Expression of Faith (based on Ephesians 2:1-10)
3. Stewardship as a Spiritual Discipline (based on Matthew 6)
4. Stewardship as a Delight (based on 2 Corinthians 9)
