Curriculum Vitae

Bohdan Kuryliak is a Ukrainian Protestant theologian and scholar specializing in New Testament studies. He currently serves as Associate Professor of New Testament at the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences (Ukraine) and as an adjunct professor at Andrews University (USA). Bohdan is also conducting a postdoctoral research project, “Annihilation of Sinners in the Gospel of John,” at the University of Zurich.

Bohdan earned a Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Andrews University (2021) and a Master of Religious Studies from the National University of Ostroh Academy (2019). He also holds bachelor’s degrees in Theology (2016) and Religious Studies (2017) from the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences.

In 2025, Bohdan completed his PhD with distinction magna cum laude at the University of Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jörg Frey and Prof. Dr. Tobias Jammerthal, with Prof. Dr. Tobias Nicklas serving as external examiner. His doctoral dissertation, “Preterism, Idealism, Historicism, or Futurism? Interpretative Issues of the Apocalypse and Its Reception in Antiquity and Late Antiquity,” explores the exegesis of the Book of Revelation and its temporal dimension, with a particular emphasis on reception history.

Bohdan’s teaching career began in 2016 at the Bible Institute of the Western Conference in Lviv, Ukraine. In 2018, he was appointed Lecturer in New Testament at the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences, where he later served as Senior Lecturer (2022–2025) before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2025. His international research experience includes work at leading institutions such as the University of Oxford (2022–2023) and Aarhus University (2022). He has published with major academic publishers including Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Mohr Siebeck, and Peeters, and has presented at numerous international conferences. In addition to his academic work, Bohdan served as a pastor in Ukraine for five years.
